Kevin Lalande and Martin St-Pierre, who both came up through the Eastern Ontario Cobras organization, will play against each other in the AHL Outdoor classic on February 20 in Syracuse. The game, which gets underway at 1 pm, will be broadcast on the NHL Network. It will also be shown on a giant screen at the Boston Pizza restaurant in Rockland. Martin St-Pierre, a native of Embrun, played with the Cobras in the 1990’s before being drafted by the Guelph Storm in the 2000 OHL draft. He is currently with Binghamton, the Ottawa Senators’ farm club. The 26 year old centre has played professionally since 2004-05, and has seen action in 41 NHL games for Chicago, Boston and Ottawa. His best year since becoming a pro was 2006-07 when he recorded 99 points in 65 games with the Norfolk Admirals in the AHL. In 48 games so far this year with Binghamton he has 14 goals and 30 assists. |
Kevin Lalande, a native of Clarence Creek, was drafted by the Calgary Flames in the 5th round of the 2005 NHL entry draft. The 23 year old goaltender played for the Cobras from 1998 to 2003, then starred in the OHL for four years with the Belleville Bulls. He has returned to the Ottawa area every summer to participate in the Cobras goaltending school. In 34 games this year with the Syracuse Crunch he has a record of 16-13-2, with a GAA of 2.76 and a save percentage of .913.
