Sure it’s a long way to the Toronto area, but it’s a drive that two Cobras teams are glad they made on the weekend of Nov 7-9. The Major Atom Cobras went undefeated in the round robin portion of the Pickering Hockey Association Tournament, then dropped a tough 3-1 decision in the semi final game against Whitby.
The Minor Midget Cobras took a 2-1 record into the playoff round, then upset the Markham Islanders 5-2 in the semi-final, avenging a 4-1 loss in the round-robin. The Cobras faced the Rideau St-Laurent Kings in the final – the only undefeated team in the ODMHA Minor Midget league. Simon Cousineau broke a scoreless tie eight minutes into the third period, and Eric Rivard shut the door on the Kings, earning player of the game honours in the 1-0 shutout. Cobras rule!
