The PeeWee Major A Cobras sure didn't serve up a turkey on Thanksgiving weekend in Toronto, winning the championship at the Avalanche Minor Sports Thanksgiving challenge.
The team won three of its four games in the round robin portion of the tournament, and headed into the elimination round full of confidence. They edged the Sarnia Sting 4-3 in the semi-final, then faced off against their OEMHL rivals, the Nepean Raiders, in the final.
Even though the Raiders were undefeated in the tounament to that point, the Cobras prevailed, winning 2-0. Goaltender Miguel Laroche was rewarded for his shutout by being named MVP in the final.
