A Dream comes true |
For a nine-year-old, it doesn't get much better -- a chance to play on the same rink they see the big boys play on. Scotiabank Place, home of the Ottawa Senators. Wow. The dream came true for the Atom Minor B Cobras on October 20, when they took to the ice in a fun game against the Cumberland Barons. The Cobras won a 4-3 squeaker, but on this day, it wasn't the score that mattered.
The game was sponsored by the Ottawa Senators Chevrolet Future Sens program. The kids got the full treatment, stepping onto the ice with the Sens' theme music blaring. The players were all introduced over the public address system, the national anthem was played and the horn sounded after each goal. The kids each took home a Future Sens practice jersey as a keepsake of their special day.
The team capped off a perfect day by watching their grown-up heroes beat the Florida Panthers 4-1.
